Being and Staying True to Myself in Relationships with Others
Being and remaining myself in relationships is proving to be quite difficult. How can that be, and how can I ensure that I don't lose myself in relationships with others?
Out of love for the other, because you wish it for the other, because you like it when the other is having a good time, because you don't feel like having an argument, discussion, or hassle. Or because you easily go along with the other without even noticing it yourself. Just a few examples that everyone knows.
In itself, there's nothing wrong with that, as long as it goes both ways and is balanced. In a healthy relationship It's give and take. It becomes different when patterns emerge in the relationship, where the balance becomes lopsided or where you regularly do something for the other person that you yourself don't enjoy or find pleasant, or that you don't agree with at all.
Why sell yourself short?
Especially in romantic relationships and families with children, it is common for someone to completely lose themselves. This is an unconscious and gradual process. When you spend a lot of time together, your energy field continuously resonates with that of the other person and you easily go along with that shared energy field. This way, you can put your own wishes and needs aside for years without even noticing.
Until you wake up from the energy and realize what you are doing. Then the search for yourself begins. Because if you ignore yourself for a long time, you often no longer know who you are and what you like or want.
You can prevent this by regularly spending time alone, shielding and cleansing your energy field, and optimizing your energy cords. How to do this is explained in the book Your Being.
It's not that you constantly have to stand up for your own interests or stand your ground in everything. In every healthy relationship, there's give and take. But the question is:
- In which areas are you willing to (compromise) and in which areas absolutely not?
- What is very important to you?
- What do you find insurmountable?
Recognizing and stating one's own boundaries
These are the areas where it's important to clearly state your boundaries and not give an inch. The other areas matter a lot less, and if they're important to the other person, you can certainly accommodate them. In short, ‘choose your battles.’.
Greatest life lesson
And that can be quite challenging for you. Because, for many people, their biggest life lesson (wound of the soul) is about the right to exist, self-worth, becoming visible, etc. This creates situations in your life that give you the opportunity to work on and grow into this. But, it is often also a blind spot. With the biggest life lesson, the word itself says it all, it's often something that comes back again and again throughout your life.
Your birth horoscope can give you insight into this.
